Has anyone had the opportunity of examining Leo Rowsome’s personal set of pipes?
Also, I know many pipemakers have taken inspiration from Leo’s pipes but has anyone ever tried to make a replica of his personal set? It’s a gorgeous looking set.

Wow…I certainly don’t have an eye for design, but I’m taken by how much Froment sets look like Leo’s personal set.
That is because he designed his pipes after Leo’s.
I feel like I’m probably the only guy who didn’t know that. Embarrasing, given that I’m playing a Froment Concert Pitch set. Now that I’ve looked at pics of other Leo Rowsome pipes, I see that the Froment is nearly identical in most ways. Froment’s own description sheet even states it at the top of the first page:
Many pipemakers have been inspired from the Rowsome style (both internal and external features). I’m referring to Leo’s own set which he made in the early 1920 and which he played almost exclusively. Other than Ennis’s Coyne set, this is probably the most well known instrument.
Wouldn’t it be a nice project for some maker to make a replica of Leo’s set in time for the 100th anniversary of the making of the original?
