Left-handedness

Tony,
Jimi Hendrix used a right hand guitar upside down… Might of strung it differently though.

“In 1958, his father bought him an acoustic guitar for $5; Jimi turned it upside down to play left-handed.”

Hate to be a bit of a stick in the mud,
but with whistles someone being right-handed
or left-handed is pretty irrelevant.
You need both hands to perform the same
function which is obviously fingering
a different set of tone holes. Whether
it’s left or right hand on top is another
matter. Nothing against lefties but you
shouldn’t use the fact you are a lefty
as a complaint or excuse. My humble 2
cents worth.

The young man I saw play the guitar left-handed didn’t re-string the guitar - in fact he just picked up my brother’s guitar and started playing it upside down.

Jon, of the Hendrix pictures I’ve seen he always had a right-handed Strat© strung left-handed. I read somewhere he could actually play it strung either way.
This is also true for Paul McCartney.

I’m a lefty also. It is particularly helpful for fencing as most right handers dont fence much against left handers. For whistling I dont think it matters much.

I am concerned about learning U-pipes however, as left handed sets are harder to find.

Interesting.
The reason I mention this is that many left-handed people I know (including myself)are just a tad quirky. Thought this might be linked to whistling. Thoughts?

Even though I’m ambidextrous…I can relate to being a little bit quirky. I’m sure my friends will attest to that. Gm

I’m a southpaw and play the whistle as such.
I also play my right handed acoustic guitar left-handed…which means upsidedown. All of my music is therefore somewhat backwards…

But you see they found that lefties can use both sides of the brain, and are primarily right brained, which is more creative and inovative! Where as right handers sometimes doesn’t use any of there brains.
