Leather Uilleann Pipebag/Bellows Question

I am in the process of making my own set of Uilleann pipes following David Daye’s Medium Quiet Chanter plans. The chanter and reed are working nicely and are in tune. I am about to make a bag and bellows. Regarding the bag, what side of the leather goes on the inside - the suede side or the finished side? I’d also appreciate receiving some information on the size of your pipebags and bellows. Thanks in advance!

Suede on the outside(makes the seasoning of the inside easier.)

Hi, have you seen the book by Wilbert Garvin, “The Irish Bagpipes”? It’ll give you measurements for bag and bellows. It’s available from http://www.pipers.ie

Cheers, Mac

Low priced leather bags w/ bellows are available on eBay:
