So, perhaps a bit of a different kind of question but…
Since i’ve met the irish pipes i’ve also taken a huge interest in how the pipes are build, so the technical part of the uilleann pipes.
I find it fascinating to see pictures of some wooden blocks and the process that some pipemakers go through to eventually get a beautiful set of pipes.
my grand dad is a woodworker and I always found that very interesting too, even though he makes different things than music instruments.
My question is more or less: are there courses or studies where you can learn the build a set of pipes? or is it more or less being able to join
a pipemaker who can teach you the art of pipemaking? and if so: how does one approach a pipemaker and tell them you are interested in making pipes?
Or is it possible to pick up the art of pipemaking by just buying a blueprint and equipment to make something in an amateur way?
I’d love to hear people’s suggestions, opinions, insights, etc ![]()
Kind regards
