Leak between slide and barrell--effect and fix?

I’ve found I have a leak between the brass slide of my Lark flute and the barrel. I feel an airstream about 1/4 inch across when I cover and then blow into the barrell itself.

Does this effect the flute’s performance and if it does, how do I stop/plug the leak?

Thanks.

Jason

Hi,
Yes, if you have a leak, it will ruin the bottom D’s performance, making it weak. Is it leaking through a crack, or where the slide is supposed to be glued? If it is unglued, you can reglue it with 5 minute epoxy. CA glue can be vacuumed into the crack, by using a houshold vacuum and pluging one end of the barrel, probably the slde side and sucking the glue into the crack.

Thanks, Jon. Hooking that vacuum up as we speak…
