I have a waltons little black whistle. Can anyone tell me why the c note 0xx000 always breaks up and is barely audible. Every other note works fine.
Good question! I have a Clarke Original and it seems to do that especially when it is starting to get clogged. That is, I notice the clogging first on that fingering. Maybe someone can enlighten a newbie.

Whoops, I thought this was a cricket posting!
Have you tried a different fingering for Cnat? Of all my whistles, only two like the OXXOOO fingering. Most prefer OXXXOO, or even OXXXXO, and one is only really comfortable when half-holed.

I don’t know, but my LBW is driving me to distraction. I’m getting ready to cut off its head and stuff something in there and see if that helps matters any.
I also find that it demands cross fingering, as described above

That helps alot. But I find this whistle at least to my touch very tempromental. I have noticed it will squeak if it is not warm enough, or if I try to hold notes to long. This is why I only use it for reels and jigs. I was thinking of maybe sanding the edges of the wholes. Has anyone else noticed this body does this. When I put the head on a different body the problem goes away. Actually I have put a Oak head on it and I think the Oak head makes it sound great. But the body is still tempromental. I put the LBW on the Oak body and love it. I was just wondering if its my huge clumsy hands or what? I have not other whistle that does this. I keep playing it though because it is light and I can take it anywhere in my back pocket. Oh well.
