Laptop/Notebook Computer

My husband just wants one for working on his website, emailing, etc.

He doesn’t necessarily intend to play DVD’s, download music or other stuff like that. He does like to play computer blackjack or solitaire, or whatever it is he plays…

I was checking at BestBuy. So am I looking for strictly price here?

there seem to be Gateway, Toshiba, Sony in various price ranges.

Who has one of these, and likes it?

Suggestions?

Mary, check sites like http://techbargains.com/ and http://slickdeals.net/, you can find great deals on Dell and other manufacturers.

I recently bought a Dell laptop, so far, so good. I used a coupon code from the techbargains site mentioned by Beowulf and got a great deal, about $250 less than I would have paid at a local store. Even if you plan on buying at a local store, check the site. It lists the best prices from the weekly ads for all the major stores.

Sounds like the needs are quite basic. There are some amazingly inexpensive full featured computers out there. Most all of them are made in China, and the American companies put their labels on them. So there isn’t that much of a difference really, the parts are very similar if not identical.

If your husband is going to tote it around a lot, an extended warranty is worth looking into.

With wireless networking and a lap top there isn’t a room in my house that I can’t check my e-mail from, not even the bathroom if need be.

(Laugh if you must but when the grand kids come over some times I want to view things from a room with a lock on the door.)

My latest is an IBook.
If you go with an Apple, check the pixels with your bifocals on before bringing it home. For some reason dead pixels is state of the art with IBooks.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

As things usually turn out, Mark just went out to BestBuy today and came home with a Gateway. He is really happy with it. Now instead of digging a hole so I can plant my new Mandevilla, he is playing with his new toy!
