Just made my first whistle...

I just finished my first whistle using Guido Gonzato’s very good instructions.

Of course I made mistakes…but still it came out o.k.
It was great to try to voice it, try and tune it, and try to balance the octaves.
Very educational, to say the least.

Betcha can’t make just one. :wink:

or two :astonished:

Yeah, I can see that.
Fipple Fever, fo sho.

I’ve got a fever, and the only cure is MORE FIPPLE

At the price of PVC pipe, it’s a cure we can easily afford. Have fun!

You must do an exo-fipple whistle as well.

I saw that linked from Mr. Gonzato’s site;

Any ideas on the fipple-hole diameter for loud and soft wistles?

I will have fun! I can’t let you master craftsmen have all the joy.

Strangley enough, I don’t think this will slow or reduce the desire to purchase others whistles.
Go figure.

I suggest either 5/16 or 3/8. That will give you either about 8 or 10 mm. That would be near what the calculators and Mr. Gonzato uses. That is my humble opinion.

I too have made some using his plans. I am making low d’s at the moment. Quite pleased so far. The plug modifications and edge modifications for the low whistles has been very necessiary and I did not pay attention to them in the past. They make a big difference. I wish that I could get a bit thinner pipe (more like .02 to .03 inch with id of .8 ish). I am using 3/4 inch silver line pvc at the moment. I want to try my hand with brass low d. Non-tunable of course.

:slight_smile: No. You can’t just make one.
