A very nice online article/interview/lesson in this month’s Acoustic Guitar magazine, with vids and transcriptions. If you’re curious about the classic Doylean Dropped-D ITM backup chords and fingerings, this is a solid introduction. Also includes some of his other tunings and fingerstyle, and info about his guitars and equipment.

Kudos to AG Mag for putting this up. Recommended!

Thanks for posting that MTGuru. I might have missed it otherwise.

Every now and then a player comes along that makes you re-think your approach to an instrument and breathes new life into your playing. John has certainly been one of those for me.

It pleases me no end that, in addition to everything else, John is a thoroughly nice human being. And I think that quality comes across in the article as well.
