hello fellow-whistlers!
I’d like to give you a bit of an update for what’s up here in Israel.
First off, I’d like to say that I bought two new whistles: a SUsato D and an Oak D, both wonderful, I can’t decide which I like more. They play beautifully, and are a whole lot better than what I had until now. Also, a girl came up to me and gave a a brand new feadog just because she didn’ want it! how cool is that???
I went to a show of the wonderfull band “black velvet”. They are on my top ten irish music bands(right along with Flook). the put up a great show, while taking music from Ireland, Scotland, the middle east, france and spain, and mixing them up so well that I couldn’t stop smiling!!!
in my opinion another great band here in israel,
they are called “kahol” also play beautiful celtic music in a bit of a middle-east style.
very interesting
i wonder how it will sound to people who are unfamiliar with a style like that
Speaking of mixing it up with Irish and, in this case, Klezmer, I came across an interesting albume at CD baby. No, I’m really not an agent of CD Baby haunting C&F but I do find some interesting stuff there. Here’s the address for the album: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ceilizemer
Shalom–
That is some great music! Nice blending of styles.
I’ve often thought that the way to end wars would be to get both sides to sit down together, listen to each other’s music and eat each other’s food, perhaps drink some of each other’s drinks and dance some of each other’s dances. By that time, they would realize that we are all pretty much like each other and there’s no reason to to go about killing each other.
Shana Tovah !
Dan, I think Klez whistling is just your plot to promote chromatic whistles since Klez is a real b*tch to play on a non-chromatic!! (only kidding!)
How about the name Klezomaniacs?
I like the improvisational style of the Doyna’s.
Actually, I built the Chromatic Whistle so that I could play this kind of stuff. I want to build a chromatic high whistle next - I’m stilling thinking about the design of it.
I recently bought and restored a Metal Clarinet and I’m having a lot of fun with it.
