Tried again tonight and got the holy grail (it’s very nice - thank you - I am drinking from it now).

DO you think that the other “ITM” site is claiming too many of us? All that sardonic-ness and dour humor cannot be the epicenter of cultural re-awakening!!

As liberals go, I’m pretty much a believer in the market. I assume that eventually C&F will be supplanted by something better. To keep C&F on top, I’d have to not rest on my laurels by constantly try to improve it. I haven’t done a lot of that. Probably because there’s no capitalism ($) involved. (Which is my choice.) So it goes. All things must pass. Etcetera.
You really shouldn’t do that for too long, anyway. They’ll fall asleep, and when
you try to get up, you’ll find there’s no feeling in your laurels. Then you might
fall flat on your bay leaves, and wives laugh mercilessly at such shenanigans.
But I beg to dissagree with the use of the “whistule-cypher” in conjuncion with the “market” demon. .. very bad omen.
I would councel that the tin-leprchaun is more than a match for the cadres of mr Murdoch (et-al). TL says so anyhow.

C&F ain’t slipping, other than a few people getting by with being bullies, and running off folks, because they are “respected members of the community.”

Walden makes a good point. I personally would post more if not for some of the nastiness I read on the forum, often totally uncalled for by a few members who think they are being clever and amusing but really are just being small-minded. I’m not really sure some of these members are really “respected” members but it concerns me how their bitter attitudes and comments might drive new members away. Having said that there are a large number of really truly wonderful people on this board which is what keeps me here. I just don’t post much. It often seems that someone can post the most innocent comment or topic and some individual will seize the opportunity to turn it into a personal attack against the poster or posters, ultimately contributing nothing to the topic but bad feelings. It certainly makes the reader wish he/she had avoided the thread altogether…
There seemed to be such a great spirit of fun and goodwill when I joined some years ago…it would be wonderful to see a return of that spirit.
