Interesting comments from "fans"...

I played my whistle in a talent show, and I did a few selections from Riverdance. Afterwards, I found out I only missed getting getting into the top three by two points…

The next day at school, I saw one of the new teachers (he was a judge at the talent show), and he said “I really loved your whistle playing last night… It was so neat! I’ve got some Irish blood in me, and when I heard you play, it made me want to… to… go out and make war on the English or something…” he laughed then, and we had a good chuckle about it, and I tell you, that was one of the most interesting comments I’ve heard in a long time… grin

Any of you had interesting comments said about your whistle playing?

This is going to be good. (The responses you get, I mean.)

The most amusing comment I’ve had was non-verbal. I have an 8 month old boy who loves music. Sings along at church, calms down when I sing him Twinkle Twinkle, that sort of thing. I was playing my whistle for him recently and he began to fuss, so I stopped. He stopped. I tried to play again, he got upset. I took the hint.

Of course, maybe he just wanted out of his high chair, sure, that’s the answer.

Go ask Dada, sweetie. Mama needs some whistle time.

A lady once told me that my playing made her eyes water…hmmmm…

The nicest thing anyone ever said was that my playing reminded her of her Irish grandmother who had died some time ago…she even wrote me a note later to thank me for playing!

Tailgating at the NASCAR races in Chicago this weekend I was playing a bit and also teaching my aunt a couple of tunes. No one said anything but we did get some strange looks. I think the people tailgating near us were getting a little annoyed, but hey, they were cooking an awfully good smelling breakfast and didn’t offer us any, so …
