I finally got to look at the manual for the Zoom MRS-4. It DOES take two mics, has a limiter, and no moving parts (except for the faders). 9 virtual tracks, cut and paste, 4-channel mixdown. It looks to be a good basic digital recording studio in a box. It only comes with enough memory to record 17 minutes (34 minutes of “low-fi”). A bit of overkill for a session recorder, but …
It seems like the a good method for recording and is cheaper than the Mini Disk option. At $219.00 plus $40.00 for a 128 meg memory card (I have seen them on sale for about $30.00) a good Mike about $70.00.
And more than we could hope to need in controls and editing for recording sessions.
I know it will take the 128 mg card but as this tech advances and the card get to be larger capacity will this unit recognize the additional capacity. If it will I think this will be my approach in the New Year. OH the AC adapter in an option at about $17.00
