In today's mail. . .

I received my new Casey Burns boxwood beauty. I’ve only had a chance to play a couple of ten minute sessions around working today. However, to say I’m impressed would be an understatement. Gotta go play now. This break in period thing is killing me.

Hey, congrats, Mark! I know how you feel-I just traded for a Burns Folk Flute, and I’m treating it like that too, since it hasn’t been played much lately by the former owner. So, it comes in bits and pieces, getting to know it, as I imagine you are feeling it too.

I’ve never played Boxwood, but many love it, so there’s got to be something there, as a flute material. And, of course, Casey has nice Boxwood, and knows how to use it!

What model did you decide on?

Good luck with it, and hang in there!

Casey has great boxwood, no question.

I ended up ordering his large holed standard flute (not sure if he’s advertising it yet, but he mentioned he had tweaked his standard design a bit). It’s rather prattenish. Powerful, loud, very in tune. A great session flute. It’s driving me crazy to only play it ten minutes at a time for an hour a day. Ah well. Hopefully then next three weeks will go by quicker.

Sounds like lots of fun. When you play it more tell us what you think. My Burns Boxwood Pratten is quite a Flute, if yours is anything like mine it is really nice. I know when I got my Boxwoods Burns it took me a while to really get into it, of course I still can’t play it to its full potential, but someday…

I have to say…something really magical happens when you combine Casey’s work with boxwood.
