Ice-cream Castles in the air...

Lotsa pictures of interesting clouds. I thought they were interesting, anyway.

Those are some real beauts, IB! IIRC SteveShaw is a member of some sort of organization that follows rare cloud observations.

The shots of the shelf clouds bring back a memory of playing baseball with some people at work. I was playing centre field on a hot, sunny evening. I happened to look up, and was mesmerized for a moment by the shelf clouds’ magnificence. I called out to the other players to look up, but no one answered. I looked down and realized I was the only one out in the field. Everyone else had run like hell for fear of tornadoes. :astonished:

Beautiful. Didn’t expect to see a pic of a mushroom cloud, though. But I’ve seen Mammatus, Roll, and Shelf clouds for sure, and the Jellyfish-type or a variant of it maybe only once or so.

Nice. I’ve seen one from that list.

Very cool. I’ve see about three of them.

I’ve seen a lenticular cloud inver our local mountains here in L.A. about 20 years ago. We all trooped out of work to look at it after a private pilot co-worker told us about it.

It’s amazing what you can do with Photoshop. Nyuk.
