fascinating!

Actually, there’s lots of stuff on this site. It even shows how to build a tabor.

When I was in grade 4, the music teacher made us all do projects. One of the choices was to build an instrument. My grandfather told me he knew how to build a whistle, so we got a dowel, and drilled a bore down the middle of it, and put finger holes. We then figured out he didn’t know how to make one, after all.

So we made a drum, using an old inner tube for the heads, and a coffee can for the body. We wrapped the can in wood-grain Contact paper, and laced the heads with shoestrings. Kids at school accused me of just having bought a drum. I was of course not happy about that. My grandparents did almost the entire construction, but I did not buy it.
