I was so pleased with myself last night...

I share your pain, Nano. Slow, protracted wipeout at one of our local community colleges Friday – it was like watching myself being in a horrible accident (in excruciatingly slow motion, of course). Long drive, late to the gig because of bad planning/traffic, no time or place to warm up … we just unpacked our instruments and started playing. Plus I was playing with some new people I was rather hoping to sound good for – it’d be nice to be invited back. But I just couldn’t get it together until like, the last set. The real bummer was, I’d even PRACTICED for it, and was looking forward to it!

Ah, the best-laid plans …

Gigs like that, I feel I should pay the audience. :boggle:

In sessions, I can play pretty well but I have to keep my eyes closed. Because if I see even one person looking at me I change something, embocure, angle of the flute etc., then lose the tone. Even if it’s one guy down the end of the bar. The only problem with the eyes being closed though is missing some of the cues that the players give.
