Coincidentally, I was looking up Jan Akkerman lute videos just last week! My first big musical obsessions were Baroque and Renaissance (still a huge Vivaldi, J.S. Bach, Monteverdi fan), followed closely by prog rock or as we called it then, art rock. The first LP I ever bought myself (age 12) was a collection of Handel organ concerti, then Jethro Tull “Thick As a Brick”. The rest, as they say, is history. 
I can still listen to, say, Yes up to 1977 now and then; I dropped them like bubonic plague when they started chopping their hair New Wave style and playing all that radio-friendly pop. But early music has stood the test of time for me. This began so long ago I can’t even say quite how I first got exposed to it! It opened my ears early though, and I am very grateful for that.
