I used to live almost exclusively off of diet soda (usually diet coke or diet dr.pepper), like two cans a day.
Then I switched to tea (mostly green tea and rooibos) and lost 3 pounds of water overnight. I swear they put something in those diet sodas on purpose to make you bloat up like a balloon.
I still drink one occasionally, but my pants fit me better when I don’t.
There is a caffeine analog in chocolate called theobromine.
In humans, it’s a smooth muscle relaxer and a mild mood elevator.
In dogs, who metabolize it differently, it’s a toxic hallucinogenic.
Just because it’s bad for a critter doesn’t mean it’s bad for you. The converse is also true: just because an animal can eat something and be ok doesn’t mean it won’t kill a human.
the boxers got into a box of Ester Price (a local chocolate that I think is MUCH better than Godiva) and ate about 2lbs of it on Friday. It didn’t hurt them, but I almost did when I got home and found the empty box!!!
I asked my mom once what Dr. Pepper tasted like and she said it tasted like prunes. Is that true? I like prune juice but I don’t like sodas that much so I’ve never had a Dr. Pepper.
Actually, several teaspoons of corn syrup.
My step-sister lives in Texas and tells that several people she knows who make regular trips south into Mexico (strictly to balance the population flow ) to bring back cases of Coca-Cola. Apparently, the US sugar tariff is high enough that Coca-Cola is cheaper to make with corn syrup in the US. In Mexico, (and I guess a large part of the rest of the world) Coca-Cola is still made using sugar. The taste difference is easily noticed (I have tried this illicit Coca-Cola), and I won’t drink the US version of Coca-Cola again. From what she says, the Coca-Cola distributors have complained loud and long about the amount of Coca-Cola being brought back since it has cut heavily into their sales.
