I couldn't resist the urge... so I folded and signed up.

I signed up with Blayne at www.blaynechastian.com to check out his Bodhran lessons
that was after a free week with http://www.oaim.ie in their whistle and bodhran lessons.
So between the 2 sites…
What did I learn? hmmm that’s the cool bit

Reel rhythm
Jig rhythm
Skin tone manipulation
Accidental triplets (neither sharp nor flat just accidental)

So as a reminder and celebration of my humble bodhran beginnings I’ve made this recording encompassing what I’ve learned so far in my 2.5 weeks
of practice. It’ll be good for a laugh for you guys if nothing else, O and please, just one thing no pen-knife tipper jokes
as I’ve already checked and I can’t find them anywhere on-line.
So have a listen and comment if you wish

Bodhran, cipín & mé

very good, and I enjoyed the comment you got - I didn’t know what a cipin was either

Hi John,

Thanks for commenting and yes Andreas is German (and a member of the board too) the word Cipín caught him out well

Cipín

Sounds like something they do to supermodels.

Or what Michael Jackson did.

Here’s a Free Bodhran lesson video play-list I created for Bodhran learners by a lady called Michell Stewart. Has a few other but relevant videos placed at the end, taping your bodrhan to reduce excessive overtones etc;
