It all depends on the day, where I am, what’s going on at work.
If I’m in the office doing mostly paperwork and such, I confess I go online more than I should - though I don’t keep track, I’m sure it could add up to an hour or more. There’s also the time spent chatting with co-workers, which some days is a lot.
But there are days that are pretty non-stop, especially if we are in the midst of a communicable disease outbreak, or getting a lot of calls, or if I’m at an immunization clinic or the like. And there are days spent in meetings, which are the bad days.
Same here. Also it helps to play freecell once in a while to check the brain cells are still operating. If they aren’t, then it’s better to keep playing freecell than to mess about with the code. Mostly.
How to work out estimated time to completion:
Make your best guess, multiply by four, and convert to the next highest units.
In other words, if you think it’s going to take an hour, it will probably take four days.
I do my very best to work my butt off and still my butt keeps getting bigger and bigger. I’m a social worker. My best friend says that our best work goes unnoticed.
I’ll read the news internet sites at work between tasks when I need to clear my mind. I would never read chiff and fipple at work. They have the ability to monitor our activities and I don’t want them knowing my personal business any more than they already do.
100% of the time. We’re all such f*cking workaholics compared to the rest of the world, arent we, in the US.
I;m a pro musician. The gig starts when I suit up for it, and ends when all the gear’s been schlepped back into the house. Unless there’s a break written into the contract, lunch is inhaled while driving. This is 5-6 days a week, on average.
THEN its off to the (home)office, answer calls/emails/faxes, book more jobs, blow money on ads, getting other pipers to cover double -bookings, hold the hands of nervous brides, wipe the @sses of picky clients and generally listen to them try to lower your price to be the same as that midlife-crisis fartbag idiot on an online booking site who CANNOT play a single melodious note on the bagpipe, let alone tune it up, and thinks he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread…well.
This is, very literally, the trenches of the entertainment world.
Then there’s familial responsibility, plus practice-time, etc.,
AHHH., you ve heard enough of my story. I’ll stop before I start to sound like BobDylan on a whiney-day.
I often wonder what its like to work in a cubicle…
