I’ve fabricated an ingenious, yet simple humidifier that is attached to the bellows above the air intake.
My apologies to any offended lassies out there, but the humidifier is made up of a tampon (the wick) and a length of brass tube (the resevoir).
Ill post some pictures if someone can give me some help on how to do so!

Tampon? This is guaranteed to bring lots of comments.
Does this restrict the airflow into the bellows?
Be careful of fibers that may get sucked into the inlet and accumulate in the bag. They can cause perpetual problems as they catch in the reed.

Tony, I keep the tampon in its plastic sheath and extend only a slight amount of the absorbant material over the air intake. I’ve experimented with several different materials - sponges, cotton swaps and latern wicks - the tampon by far is the best.
Well, its about bloody time, isn’t it?

To change the subject slightly, while the bugs get worked out; I heard about Brian MacNamara putting a kettle on a hot plate in the studio, to maintain 70% humidity, at which his pipes worked perfectly. Perhaps if you crank the volume on his CD you’ll hear some whistling noises in the background…
I still prefer a vaporizer over a humidifier. Raising the humidity of the room would seem to shock to the pipes less than ‘fuel injection’.
