Hey I used to do that, except it was with model airplane boxes!
We did it with playing cards. All over my grandmother’s living room. She had probably 12 sets for bridge games and we pretty much filled the room.
At least they didn’t use your whistles and masking tape.

Beats scratching the heads off of strike anywhere matches to make fire crackers. (Any one else make mini rockets with tinfoil, a sewing needle and a match?)

That’s what I found humorous. They couldn’t watch them, so undeterred, they found another way to entertain themselves with them.

Here’s what idiot and brewerpaul may have been talking about. My brothers and I were always members of the rocket club and never knew about these.
Whenever I look at the photo, I try to see how many videos I can recognize.

I used to take the heads of the matches from match books, and wrap them up in a small bit of tin foil. Push a depression in the dirt with your thumb, put the match heads in, a liberal douse with lighter fluid and set a match to them. Made a pretty good imitation of a mortar shell.
