Here is an example of a lame adoption of Irish Music (IMO)

This works very nicely for the crowd though

This is us playing with the Kibbutzim Orchestra, my lame solo in the beginning… and still I’m shameless to share this.

Maybe someone might even enjoy this here…
Philip

I thought it was lovely and fun. 'Zouk goes
surprisingly well with the orchestra. All it
needed was more whistle.

I am curious about why the black bars above
and below the image move around. Must be
something weird about the video software…

There’s nothing lame about it, Trip. Well done!

Opinions can vary on the suitability of symphonic adaptations of ITM. But the execution here leaves little to be desired. The orchestra and orchestration are very good, and the ITM players (including yourself) clearly know what they’re doing, with a stylistic understanding of the source music. The vocal is lovely, with perfect English and a nice lilt. I agree, I want to hear more of your fine fluting and whistling.

The contrast with the recent offering here from “Irish Kind Of” couldn’t be more stark. The intent of your classically blended performance is clear, honest, and nicely done.

Oh, and I see you’ve cut your hair.

I’m curious … who wrote the orchestral arrangement? Was it created for this performance, or is it a published arrangement?

MTGuru thank you
yes I have cut the hair (Ben you might not recognize me anymore)

As to the arrangement, it is of the conductor himself.
This is not published, but has been performed by others before me.

Cheers.

No, I did find it hard to recognise you, Phillip.

As for the arrangement, and the playing, they’re lovely.

Shame you won’t be in Drum. I’d love a few more tunes with you some time. Let me know when you’re in Ireland or the UK, eh?

Very impressive.

Like yer man said, Classical doesn’t always do trad or folk well, but this was a good one. Shame to have so many fiddles and no jig…
More cowbell! …er, whistle!

That’s it! That’s what I felt was missing. Or maybe a section of the orchestra playing spoons… But I suppose the spoons are the cowbell of ITM?
