What 2 keys is this being played in? Key change at 2:55. And what would be the handiest whistle or whistles to use? I don’t mind swapping over whistles, but would be better if I could just change it on the same one.
Then hopefully I can work out a nice way of playing it, or I’ll be back here begging for more help! Any suggestions welcomed as I’m not great in this department. If it’s handy enough we’ll probably be playing it in a couple of days in the pub. Our singers are dying to get it going.
Use a Eb whistle.
Main song alternates between F and Eb (E and D with D whistle fingering), and is in key of F Dorian i think (E Dorian with D whistle fingering).
The key change part then goes to Bb and C (A and B with D whistle fingering), it is in C minor (B minor with D whistle fingering).
All goes fine on Eb whistle, no whistle change needed.
You might want to transpose the whole thing down a semitone to E Dorian (E minor) for using a D whistle.
You could play it also on a Bb whistle quite well.
XXXOOO gives you Eb, just play like in G on a D whistle.
For the second part you need to go up high in the second octave, but it works well. So no transposing is necessary, if you got a Bb whistle.
