Help Me Identify This Tune!

I was wondering if any of you folks can help me identify the following tune:

http://www.pearlfusion.com/unknown_tune.mp3 (436 kb)

The primary instrument is a synthetic penny whistle.

I think the tune is superbly composed.

Sounds like something out of an old console game. Zelda or something?

Yes, it is from a video game.

Can anyone help me with this?

Is this even a traditional tune?

Thanks

Jack be nimble,
I don’t think that this is a traditional tune. I got to about 45 secs., and I couldn’t take any more of it. I would rather listen to: “It’s begining to look at lot more like Christmas, every where you go.”

Best wishes,
Doug Tipple

I’ve played this game before… in ages past… I can just picture the sillohette of sturdy young lad with an oversized sword running cross the screen. The purple night sky and the beaming moon behind him… Sadly I dont remember the game. it had a sword thats for sure. Were’nt the low level creatures that you had to kill in the beggining levels these pink blobs that would suck the life out of you? I remember it was a crappy rip off of zelda.

Wow, THAT narrows it down…

The first time I heard this song, it reminded me of “Est-ce que un certain corps a vraiment enregistré cette merde?” or very close to it.

Sounds like “The mangled badger on the road” by Rip Roaring van Winkle.

Phil.

Jackbnimble, I am assuming that this tune was composed solely for the game on which it is featured, and if you really want to discover its name and possibly (but doubtfully) its notation, I recommend getting in touch with the company that made the game. But I am afraid you may not have any luck in finding it.

Thanks for everyone’s help.

Doug Tipple, the song changes quite a bit after about a minute.

I percieve that people are being sarcastic in providing song names? Am I correct in this?

That’s my guess.

Yes. [one contributor’s:roll:] suggestion roughly translates to:

“Did a company really record this pile-o-droppings?”

Why not learn some real tunes… as in ITM…?

Well, this board doesn’t have anything to do with Irish music anymore - in fact, most any music talk that once DID appear on the forum here is relegated to the dark dismal corners of the memory of a few old timers sitting quietly in a pub sipping their drinks and waiting for senility to overtake them completely. So this tune sould fit in well enough I would gather - except for the fact that it is in some form musically related…to something…I think.

Irish Traditonal Music, cannot be separated from the people who play it.It has always been a communal kind of thing…
This music has been the voice of many generations(no whistle jokes…)…
Without the people who indulge in this pastime there is nothing…ITM lives and breathes by those who play it.Kitchens, bedrooms, where ever the F$*& it goes down. Without the players it dies.

There is no room for puritanism. A bad beginner is so much better than a non-starter.

Keep the Faith.

Go Dub!
