Does what I am looking for exist?
Can anyone tell me if there is such a whistle as a Chieftain Gold in the key of “G”?
If someone out there has one of these and for one reason or another they are ready to part with it please e-mail me at elkcreek@infinet.com
Phil, have you got one of these around the shop?
Thanks for everyone’s help.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
John
Low G?? Yes, I have one, but don’t want to sell it.
Hi John,
I’m sure I saw on Phil’s site recently that Hobgoblin USA had all the remaining Gold Chieftains, The G is’nt mentioned on their site but it may be worth contacting them. Have you tried contacting Phil?
Cheers, Mac
I am going up to Hobgoblin this weekend. I’ll tell you what I can find.
Seth
Seth,
Thank you for doing this for me. I have a High D, C, Bb, A, and Low D in the “Gold” series. A “G” would round out the set.
John
I just got back from Hobgoblin a Howard low D and a Water Weasel C richer. I regret to say that apparently the only Chieftan Gold whistles left in the US store are half a dozen Fs, and one high D. Sorry for the bad news.
Seth
Thanks for checking for me, Seth.
Enjoy your new whistles. It sounds like you picked out a couple of good ones.
John
I’ve got a high and low D, A and low F.
I’d definitely have to say that getting one of the low-F Chieftain Gold whistles would be well worth the effort. It’s definitely one of my favorites.
For anyone else, you may also want to check with Lark in the Morning. They don’t have any low-Gs, but last I checked they had high and low D, C, Bb and A.
If you don’t find a gold low G, you may want to consider just a regular low G. I own a low D, and have played a gold low D, and to my ears, there wasn’t any real difference in the sound. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t a difference, but I certainly couldn’t hear one.
