Harvest Storm on D instrument?

Hi all,

I’d like to play along on the tune “Harvest Storm” (reel) - but the thing is, it has a G# in it. Since I’m not much for half-holing, due to poor technique; I just wonder:

  • does anyone have recommendations for a way to play along on it without using the G#, but only the natural tones on say, a D whistle?
    If there’s e.g. an ABC transcription somewhere, that would be optimal :blush:

Thanks, cheers, and best regards :slight_smile:

Transpose it into another key, if you’re not trying to play along with an album or somebody else who plays it in Amaj.

I see;

well I should have been more clear: What I wanted was to play along in the Amaj version; but without using G#'s…I will learn the Gmaj version instead and see how it blends in with other tunes.

Thanks :slight_smile:

I’m not familiar with that tune, so I may be way off, but try a B.

…just took a look and a B works fine in many places but try two F#'s in a row (replace the G# with an F#) in A part measure 6.

P.S. It sounds pretty good using the above substitutions but I’m not sure how it would sound with other instruments playing the G#'s…it may change the flavor a bit.
