Hard Cane = hard reed?

I see in piobgirls thread someone says that seth gallagher uses hard cane in his reeds…does this generally mean that the reeds will be hard to play in terms of pressure required etc.? Might be a naive sounding question but I don’t know as much as I should about reedmaking?

Harder cane usually yields a brighter tone. A reed made of hard cane can be scraped thin to yield a lower pressure reed, but may be more sensitive to enviromental vagaries. Softer cane reeds playing at the same pressure will be thicker in the scrape and more resistance to enviromental changes.
