Thanks to all my good friends here for your birthday greetings. I had a fine day, in spite of a steady rain. My office friends presented me with an exquisite strawberry cake which we shared. Then we had a big Board of Education meeting in which the Board hired a new Superintendent of Schools and did just the right thing. Then my wife and I met at my favorite Chinese restaurant and had the Peking Duck we had ordered 48 hours ago. Yum.
And in the middle of the meal, the waiter informed me that someone had called in and picked up the tab for the dinner. They had been instructed not to tell me who. But, I have a good idea who and it’s a pretty touching thing.
And, as of tonight, Mom’s doing well in Assisted Living. So. Good day to turn 53.
