H.R. Pufnstuff

Apparently there’s an animated update to H.R. Pufnstuff in the works. The design for Freddy the Magical Flute is decidedly un-flutelike. Freddy the Magical Recorder doesn’t really do it for me.

However, this still could be cool. It would move into realm of awesome if they could get Billie](http://www.billiehayes.com/%22%3EBillie) Hayes to voice Witchiepoo.

Is Jack Wilde still around? He’ll be a bit old to star in this one, won’t he?

(god - how sad is it I remember all that???)

No..he died a bit back..alas.

Gee, thanks for that. Haven’t heard that theme song in years.
I imagine that’s what being on acid feels like.

Nope..
Nowhere near..

All together now:

One banana, two bananas, three bananas, four
Four bananas make a bunch but so do many more…

Sha, na,na,Sha,na,na,na

Liz Phair did a cool version](http://www.amazon.com/Saturday-Morning-Cartoons-Greatest-Hits/dp/B000002OYG/ref=pd_sim_v_1/103-4337084-9813420%22%3Eversion) of the Banana Split song a few years ago. Think I’ll listen to it now…

I never saw that opening boat scene before, just the very last part with the chorus. I only remember that I never really liked that show. Now Friendly giant, on the other hand, …

I found the whole show disturbing. Pufnstuf’s flying saucer head with those droopy eyes was bad enough, but putting the sash and gogo boots on him made him look disturbingly naked! I found the whole environment and its inhabitants out of kilter enough to be really creepy! I have trouble believing no drugs were involved in its creation. Oddly, I did like Lidsville, done by the same people.

Friendly Giant was cool. My sister watched it all the time on US public TV. That show now strikes me as one of the most purely Canadian institutions on the planet.

That’s strange. The guy who did the show (from 1958 to 1984) was an American. He started the show in Wisconsin, put out flyers to see who would buy in, and ended up moving to Toronto in 1959 to do his show for the CBC.
