This is a clip of the young Seamus Tansey, with his parents on either side of him.
Let’s not hear any Tansey-slagging. The man is great.
Very nice playing!
What tunes are those?
First one sounds like Kiss the Maid and the second think I know but I can’t remember the name… and is there a third in there?
Nice…thanks for the link!
Just two: The Shaskeen, and the New Copperplate, as I know them.
Ok there we go!
Thank you!

Anyone know for sure if the second guy to the left of Tansey is Jim Donoghue?
Yep, that’s him. At one point a young fiddler with big hair appears in shot. That’s Paddy Glackin.
Regards,
Harry.
Instant Saved Favorite. Thank you! What a monster.
And my fave, Paddy Glackin. Grooovy. ![]()
The fellow on Tansey’s right is singer Darach Ó Catháin. Don’t know the girl on Tansey’s other side. The clip is from RTÉ’s first video Come West Along the Road.

Yes that’s Ó Catháin, Tansey is definitely not flanked by his “parents.” The girl on his left almost looks like a very young Dolores Keane, but not quite.

Nice flute playing from Seamus Egan (not a Sligo bloke)
Hello
Girl on left is Maire Ni Cathasaigh, the harpist (sister of Nollaig).
The fiddler beside Paddy G. is John O’Dwyer from Beara Peninsula in West Cork.
The chap with the tie you see at the start is Paddy King, the set dancer from Cooraclare ( I used to travel out with Paddy every friday to Comhaltas in Monkstown to get whistle lessons from Mick O hAllmhun when I was a teenager) and a very young looking Ollie Conway beside him. Program must have had a half set at some stage.

I know, but I’m looking for a deal
Thanks though, I do appreciate it.

I’ve been watching this clip often for weeks now. The tone, rhythm, ornaments, variations, and phrasing are all spectacular.
It’s a shame that the “remastered” King of the Concert Flute is marred by such bad sound.
re: King of the Concert Flute remastering …
To me it still sounds better than my copy of To Hell With The Begrudgers, where Mr. T seems to be playing in a closet. The fiddler sounds lovely.
What up with that?

KOTC must have been completely unlistenable before… Now it sounds like a 5th generation tape
Wait’ll you hear To Hell With The Begrudgers! It’s a bit bizarre, the difference. You’d think the engineers would adjust for that.
