They took the photo of our place when I had the bulk waste out front for pick up. Unfortunately I had chosen that day to cut up my old drift boat and pile it on the curb, it was a big pile. I and several of my family members and friends have found that google maps produce very questionable directions, I no longer trust them. On the other hand if I have some idea where the property is and I can see it from aerial shots that google has then I can map it myself. The last time I used their directions they had us going the wrong way on a one way street.
The pic of my house was taken when we were back East on vacation. I know because both cars are in the driveway but there are newspapers piled up (the old dead giveaway to booglars). And speaking of burglars, it’s quite a tool for the more savvy to plan their heists, isn’t it?
I used street view the other day to show the Weekender how to get to a certain store because its off the street. She could literally take the entire drive from her work to the place on streetview. I showed off my fence design to a workmate using it.
Another use I thought of: when somebody wants to buy something and has sent you a check, you can at least look up their pad tand get a sense of who you are dealing with…Maybe you could figure out if it was a business or something for an eBay or other online auction.
It’s actually a bit creepy in terms of privacy, but endlessly entertaining. You have to keep checking, they add more and more images every day.
I suppose it could have been worse.
