For those of you who have been following my “New and Confused” saga, thanks for your input. I now feel confident enough to post as “New and Less Confused.”
I have followed the directions on the tweaking page and have removed the mouthpiece on my Gen Bb, removed extraneous polymer debris and replaced the mouthpiece. It now sounds 100% better, except for A. It doesn’t matter whether all holes are open or the bottom three are closed, the tone is terrible. Disappointing, since the whistle sounds so good now. Any ideas?
Try packing some blue tack in the mouthpiece cavity (instructions are in the tweek page) - add a little, tamp it in, try it out, and repeat till you’re happy - just don’t take it beyond level with the end of the windway.
It’s worth experimenting with - my Gen Bb went from nearly unplayable to one of my best whistles this way. Best of luck!
