On barrel, heart, and foot: RUDALL CARTE & CO / LONDON.
All the stamps are clearly visible and well made.
Date: Made in ~1868, After mr. J. M. Rose’s death.
Material: The flute is made of beautiful reddish cocus wood with nickel silver keys.
System: This is the professional English flute of the day, with 8 keys and a footjoint to C.
Condition: The flute is in excellent condition for its age and need to be played. Pads are original and the thread is been replace by matching the original tread’s colour. A crack in the back of the head has been professionaly restored. The crack was net and easy to repair. One of the silver rings has been replaced. The flute looks in general like-new condition with no sign of wear from previous use.
Unusual features: the barrel slide is covered in a sleeve of cocus wood.
Comment: The sound is big and powerful, as expected from a large holed Rudall. It takes few minutes to warm up and the more you play it the best you get form it.
It plays down to the low C quite easily (after some oil is been added on the plugs).
Sounding length -fully compressed- is 570 mm.
McGee indicator: 252 mm.
Overall length: 66 cm.
Weight gram: about 400 g.
Case: Came with a costumed-fitted french style case (not original).
