FOR SALE:
1920s Langstile I Tenor Banjo
Currently set up GDAE for Irish/Celtic music with brand new strings.
Beautiful birdseye maple on the pot and resonator, solid 3 piece maple neck, intricate mother of pearl inlays on the headstock as well as fingerboard.
Hardware in great shape. 24 bracket pot. Intricately shaped peg head, as well. The head is calfskin. Case is original, as far as I know, also in nice shape given the age of the instrument.
This is a nice instrument, and in amazing condition when you consider the age. There is a small splinter on the left side of the neck above the heel (see photo on eBay). This doesn’t pose any structural problems or effect the playing/sound of the instrument at all, and I think has been sealed at some point in the past. It also looks like bottom two mother of pearl position markers have been repaired at some point in the past.
The banjo plays and sounds great…the head is in good shape, the friction tuners work well, the bridge and tailpiece are in fine condition. It’s ready to go.
I’m charging $50 for UPS ground shipping. This may seem like a lot, but I just shipped an Octave Mandolin recently and it was $47, so this should be about right for shipping (the banjo is heavier than the mando was).
It’s currently on eBay, but if you’re interested in buying it, just let me know and I’ll cancel the auction.
