Brilliant Coyne style chanter, made by great Joe Kennedy in 2010. The key of C. Ebony, box mounts & German Silver. 2 keys (C nat and F nat.) The F nat is made in the O’Mealy style which makes easier playing. The chanter is as good as Joe makes. He guarantee all his work, no matter who owns it, except the reed of course. I recently bought it from original owner from Dublin, who sold it to me as he found and bought 2nd hand Kennedy full set while he was waiting on Drones and regs to go with this chanter. I was lucky as I was first to hear for chanter before he would put it on internet for sale and I bought it instantly.
The reason for sale so soon is only one - I need D chanter to be able to play with Grand piano. This Chanter likes to play a bit flat of C so pushing it to to play with piano in would be a real compromice - lost of its very rich expressive tone & probably also tuning. If I would have money then I would keep the chanter & add the drones to have beautifull sounding 1/2 flat set, but I don’t! Chanter plays wonderfully, very rich tone with great warmth and depth. Typical “old” sound. Very good tuning. Tone is of course much nicer/richer/rounder the the concert chanters, but as I said I need & want to play in D. Besides O’Mealy key another great feature is that the top metal part with swan neck can be removed (photo 7), so you can put the bag directly on (the old way) to mybe get even more tone. My minimum aspiration to sell this great chanter would be 1400 Euros + shipping - the amount I payed. I am not yet sure for bag & bellows as I need to see if I will be able to get the original bellows and bag with the Narrow bore D chanter I intend to buy. I hope this chanter will go to someone who will apreciate its great classic tone & playability. Joe list is very long already so this is great chance.
