Freeman Whistles and a Confession

I’ve mentioned before that the Freeman Generation Bb is now my favorite whistle. I simply can’t get over the quality of it. My question - I wondered if anyone has the range of Freeman Generations. Do they all have the same basic tonal quality? In other words, if I like the sound of the Bb, would I probably like the other keys also?

I’m also thinking about getting a Mellow Dog. The worst mistake I have made as an amateur was passing judgment on this whistle too early. I bought a Mellow Dog, and played it for about 5 minutes before deciding I didn’t like it. So, I sold it. That was a foolish thing to do! The whistle didn’t even have time to get warmed up! I almost did the same thing with my Generation Bb. I played it and thought it had too much rattle. My wife (praise the Lord for wives) told me to be patient and keep playing it for a little while before making a decision. Well, it turns out the rattle was due entirely to my lack of breath control and the fact that the whistle was cold. I guess I’m saying all of this to encourage my fellow newbies to not make the same mistakes I did.

Here are soundclips of all the Freeman tweaked Generations:

Bb tweaked Generation
C tweaked Generation
D tweaked Generation
Eb tweaked Generation
F tweaked Generation
G tweaked Generation

Best wishes,
Jerry

Wait, did you say that your wife told you to keep playing?

Did I read that right?

The mellodog is a dream. Go for it.

She did. I married an angel

Jerry, this is just great. Are the other whistles clips to be up soon?

I’ll put up a complete set of soundclips in a separate thread so people can find them when they want.
