From you Steve, I purchased about 6 months ago a tunable Cillian O’Briain Low D/C combo. Seems to me it was about the time you were opening your store.
My only prior Low D experience was a Chieftain non-tunable Low D.
My first impression to the C.O’B. was maybe too expensive for the quality, BUT now that I’ve had a bit of time to become more familiar with it, my initial doubts have completely evaporated, and I am enjoying it immensely. I don’t play the Chieftain anymore. The sound is rich & full and can be made to sound almost “haunting”, fingering is easy such that I can now even play some quicker tempo tunes on it, its no more difficult on finger stretching than my Chieftain, and in my limited Low D experience, not demanding for breath requirements anywhere through high B. It requires about the same breath, certainly not much more, as my Clarke Original Soprano C. Notes right through high B are no strain to me, and don’t shriek at all. Maybe someone who was considering a C.O’B.will take advantage of your free Doolin offer to consider this Low D or Low D/C through you. YOur service was certainly top rated, and its very nice to see that of late you seem to be a little more relaxed on the chiffboard, and not so (don’t take this wrong, I love your enthusiasm).

Not so what, Bob - not so what???

 Only teasing. Yes I do feel more relaxed. Maybe it’s because of people like you who are responding so well to what I’m offering!

I’m really glad that you are enjoying the O’Briain. Happy holidays.

Steve

…not so… “je’n sais quoi”…(?)commercially focused (?)

Heya, gonna get blasted for this message, but just to let you know how “piece of crap” this thread is for me. Can’t believe that focus of people in on lost cats and free whistles… oh well…

How terribly compassionate of you, AZZ. You also gonna rag on us for posting messages of concern and support for Chuck’s medical situation and the devastating stroke Phil’s mother suffered?

Loren

P.S. For those who asked, it’s french.

Thanks, Brett. Very helpful.

I think the non-English posts are not pure French, I even wondered about Cajun -or some other pigeon language! There’s something about drinking lots of wine, having brunch and even Galway gets a mention at one point. I’ve no idea who Ben is, but he comes up a few times, too!

Loren makes an excellent point. The Irish below is for you, L.

My original post was intended as a thank-you message. If heartfelt thank you’s are ‘pure crap’ then obviously that’s what it is!

Go raibh mile maith agat!

Steve

Chiac, maybe? Come back and tell us, guys!

I stuck it into an online french - english translator and most of it translated.

avanutria,
Where might that translator be? Sometimes my friends start talking in different languages…I’d like to be able to translate it…

Now, I must say that, as much as I like trying to translate (and failing) it is something of a breach of good manners to carry on this conversation in a language not common to us all.

Dale

Here is a humerous semi-translation from a very non-French speaker and a free translation program:

Well, I must say, this translation thing made me laugh for quite a long time! We were actually writing in “bad” french, french language used in some regions of the Quebec province. It’s a french mostly related to “farmers” and “common folks”, at least this is what the French think! I don’t think any tool in the world could translate the messages correctly. I’m still quite impressed, the reference to a “brunch” tommorow afternoon is quite accurate!

Related to the previous posts, if you guys compare a whistle player’s health problems with a lost cat, can’t help it… It’s just something amusing to see that the only recent “hot topic” is about a lost cat, and not with something that has anything to do with whistles… and the reason why I sent this post is because I was so freaking drunk, I couldnt help myself. I still think what I wrote, but maybe I wouldnt have written it! It’s so great to be drunk sometimes!
