This weekend, the server on which the Chiff and Fipple Forums is hosted will be undergoing an upgrade which will necessitate making the forums unavailable for most to all of the weekend.
The server will be receiving a new disk controller and an additional 240GB of disk; since this server is used for a considerable amount other than these forums, the extended downtime is necessary to back up and restore the existing 300GB of websites, software, databases and mail stored here.
I expect the forums to be back up and going Sunday evening or Monday morning. Since the server is heavily disk-bound currently, I expect the upgrade to positively impact the performance of the new forum software.
