I have ABC but find it annoying as hell. I’ve been using the free version of Finale but it’s getting on my nerves too.
Does anyone use anything that’s relatively easy but still gets the job done? I don’t mind inputing most of the notes and then hand-entering symbols or whatever.

That’s interesting … I use abc notation exclusively and love it. I use ABCMUS for editing and then use ABC2WIN for printing. I’ve tried Cakewalk and hated it. Before that I used Music Printer Plus which was an old DOS program. What annoys you about ABC?
Melody Assistant is pretty good. Does it all. Plays, prints, converts to ABC, Midi, Tab etc.
see if you can pick up an older inexpensive version of finale on ebay. i started with finale 98 (the demo was annoying)…it’s all i use now…unless you’re planning to do some hot midi entering or like purdy graphics, they’re basically the same 98-2004
