Eugene Lambe flute

Just to know what you think about his flutes. I know he’s a well known maker
but i never seen (never tried) one of his flutes.

Patrick.

I have a keyless one and like it, but I’m not a very serious flute player. Pat O’Riordan likes it as well and has a standing offer to buy it if ever I choose to sell. Loretto Reid told me that she thought that they were fine flutes and that she played one for quite some time until she got her Olwell. Last time I knew, Lambe won’t ship flutes with wooden heads to the USA because they tend to crack over here. There, I’ve exhausted the sum total of my knowledge of flutes.

I don’t know if you saw my note here, where I quote Mary Bergin on Eugene’s flutes - scroll down the thread to find it:

I like Eugene’s flutes a lot. I have two of his silver head reform type flutes. They are lovely sweet easy playing flutes in perfect tune, but run to the quiet side. I’d say they are a good choice for someone moving over from Boehm flute (the lip plate embouchure being an easier adjustment) but they are not the big loud session cannons people around here seem to favor. Parlour instruments

All the best,

Tom
