Elfsong copper/brass..?

I sent you a private message.

Of course, you also have to bear in mind that a beginner on the whistle isn’t necessarily a musical beginner. It doesn’t take experience with the whistle to tell if one is in tune with itself so much as it takes a good ear. What a beginner might not realize, however, is that some tuneable whistles need to be pulled out a bit to be internally in tune.

I have both a copper and brass ElfSong. Both are high D whistles. To my ears, the material that the barrels are made of (copper of brass) makes absolutely no difference to the sound of these whistles. I can swap the barels between the two heads and they just don’t seem to affect the sound one way or another.

I can’t really comment on the sound difference of the brass vs. copper heads because both heads are voiced differently. How Sandy voices the head is going to be the determining factor as to how the whistle sounds. The material won’t make a difference.
