Egan and The Vega Set

I really like the two Johns as well. Speaking of which, John Williams also happens to be a pretty good flute player. I actually like his flute playing better than Seamus Egan’s. I think the big reasons for them moving on were some of the same reasons that others moved on from Solas. I do think Karen Casey is a lovely singer and though a lot of their instrumental stuff doesn’t really do it for me, I do like all the songs from when Karen Casey was with the band. I agree with others here, Egan has the chops, I just don’t care for some of what he does with them. No biggie, that’s his choice and everyone has different taste. I certainly don’t lose any sleep over it! Not to hijack a thread, but I agree with Charlie, Harry Bradley’s great! I have his second solo CD and plan on getting the others he’s on. He plays the pipes too, but not sure if he plans on ever recording with them.

Hey, thanks for the reminder, C – how could I have forgotten? One of my favorite whistle-playing tracks of ALL TIME is on this funky little CD I have called ‘Chicago’s Hidden Treasures’ or something like that … anyway, I hear this wonderful whistle tune and I look it up and … surprise! It’s John Williams playing Micho’s Jig MARVELOUSLY before switching back to the box on something called Mikey’s Reel (kewl tune, BTW).

Such lovely style; makes me want to just … :swear:

But yeah, it’s a treat!

… And oh yes, how Mr Bradley does rock.

Tho’ I’m still busy trying to conjure the ghost of John McKenna
