East Durham Irish week

Funny you should ask - I received the answer in my email yesterday. See note below from Paul Keating.

All the best,

Tom

The Catskills Irish Arts Week office at the Quill Centre’s Weldon House will be open on Sunday, July 13 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for students to receive their registration folders and again on Monday morning at 8:30 p.m. New students may also register for available classes at that time but please allow adequate time to accomplish this in a very busy opening to the CIAW. Inside will be a schedule of events like lectures, sessions, concerts and ceilithe.
Non-students can purchase a Caidre Catskills pass for $100 for all the week’s events including the Andy McGann Festival on Saturday, July 19 taking place from 12 noon to 8 p.m. that closes out the week.

There are no CIAW music events on Sunday but early attendees are welcome to participate in a welcome session at the Shamrock House on starting around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

As usual, I agree with Brad. I would add that every once in a while magic happens where 60+ musicians know what they are doing and play some of the most wonderful music you will ever hear. Much more fun to listen to, I think. There have been times when some of the old pubs up there in East Durham sound like a huge symphony orchestra has sat down and begun to play IrTrad right!

Not always the case of course, but magic does happen from time to time. And, as Captain Ron famously said “if its gonna happen, its gonna happen out there”.

All the best,

Tom

Yep, I got the email as well. I’m assuming that’s a typo, and the Monday reg. hours start in the AM not the PM…

Now, if only they’d post a pub sessions schedule!
