Hey everybody…

Last night i enjoyed the best two hours of piping I have ever had.My drones were really going well.

But today, when I strapped the set on,the tuning was awful, and the there was a buzzing and wavering sound coming from the drones.

Is it normal for reeds to behave like this?

Things to check for:

  • drone reed(s) loose in reed seat;
  • loose or moved bridle(s) on reeds

Are their bridles on drone reeds?
All I can see is a loose bit of cane,almost as if someone chipped the reed

Yes, usually. They’re made of thread in most cases, wrapped/knotted around the quill.

Hmm, a picture might be helpful. Is it one particular reed that’s gone wonky?

I think its the baritone. Could it be anything to do with heat or cold?
