Boy I know how you mean! Happens with handouts too- the ones that need 'em won’t take 'em, and the ones that take 'em go spend 'em on drugs and alcohol (or else just keep asking and make you feel guilty for not giving more). shrug Peopel are people, wherever in life. Gotta help 'em anyhow.

I ask myself over and over again just how might I be enabling in any given situation.
What counts as helping?
I once worked with a lady who came from a large family and every payday all her nephews and nieces would show up at her house with bad luck stories why they needed a loan from her.
The lady was the “baby” of the family and all her nephews and nieces were about her own age.
She could have been helping some to weather a storm, and helping some to continue on with their dependent lifestyle.
I don’t mind helping my kids if they need it and are doing all they can personally do to get out of whatever situation has arisen. I refuse to help them if they are not pulling their own weight in the situation.
I’ve never had anyone else ever ask for monetary help. I tithe and give to some charities, but that is not really personal involvement.
