Feel the Force!
Saw it Friday night. Wanted to like it, but kept yawning.
… well, there goes my enthusiasm… 
When I was a child, Star Wars was all the rage. I never saw it, as we weren’t show-going folks, but it had been announced that Darth Vader was making an appearance at a shopping mall in a nearby town, to give autographs. I wanted to go. Seemed like a valuable autograph to have. 
We happened to be in town, and my parents took me to the mall. I got one look at him, up there with a long line of people, and I got spooked. I hid behind a pillar at Radio Shack. He was dressed like that scary ape from Planet of the Apes. They had shown us Beneath the Planet of the Apes at school, and at that young age the bizarre religious element had spooked me horribly.
… look… I was trying to avoid this “Hollywood Somebody” thing, but I suppose those of us within the ‘INNER-CIRCLE’ have to be more careful… maid, mother, crone… so, make of me what you will. Don’t forget to feed and let the chickens out, PLUS, keep the kitties drunk and dependent on cream, and make certain that the dogs get their own ‘POP-CYCLES’.

I roundly despised episodes I (which I saw shortly after it opened in theatures) and II (which I saw after it had been out on DVD for awhile) and so I can’t seem to get myself worked up about going to see episode III, in spite of the presence of an all-digital system here in town. So, I’m thinking…DVD. Maybe.
I don’t understand why people keep looking to Star Wars for great movies. The only thing that was ever great about them was the ground-breaking quality of the special effects. The characters are cliches, the stories juvenile, the dialogue infantile. Just sit back and take in the visuals. I don’t expect any more from them, and am never disappointed.

my kids called her “Princess Donut” or " Princess Bagel" cuz that’s what it looked like she had on her ears.
They had a pair of those in the movie “Spaceballs”.

I had pretty much the same reaction. The middle section of the movie (“Order 66”) was fairly dramatic, but. . .as soon as you see the final fight scene’s location, the rest of the movie is blindingly obvious and predictable. . . it just takes 30 minutes to cram in more special effects to get there.

Good point, but I’ve never looked for greatness in these movies. The original trilogy were a lot of fun with interesting and likeable good guys and nasty bad guys. And lots of cool effects and stuff blowing up. Episodes I-III have cool effects and stuff blowing up, but characters that are impossible to like and plot lines that turned on politics and trade & tariff issues, for crying out loud.
Yeah, some things are difficult to get past. I mean, midichlorians… WTF? Personally, I think that Ep III should’ve been split into 3 movies (drop I and II altogether) with some actual character development and decent dialogue. But that’s just me.
