I have a near-new half set of uilleann pipes by James Wenham of England for sale in the store.
James studied pipe making under Mickey Dunne and does lovely work.
The set was purchased new from James 6 months ago for $3900. It is in like-new condition and playing beautifully. The seller needs some dough for his dream full set so has priced this set to sell quickly.
This is a great chance a nice set of pipes with no wait priced to sell.
It’s on eBay but you can buy it cheaper here: http://shop.irishflutestore.com/James-Wenham-Half-Set-wenham-1-2-set.htm sol long as the eBay reserve hasn’t been met.
I wanted to give an unsolicited plug for Jim’s work. Jim is a great maker! He brought a smashing boxwood chanter of his own making to Miltown, and many of the big names were salivating over it. Eventually, it was purchased by a relation of Sean Og Potts. If you are in the market for a 1/2 set, this is not to be overlooked!
As a happy Wenham half-set owner (in boxwood!) I second that. Both my chanter and drones have gotten a whole lot of praise from some seriously good pipers including Mr. Dunne, Mr. Cooney, Mr. McKeon and Mikie Smyth. I’m glad I got mine when I did because I honestly don’t know if I’d be able to afford one 10 years from now.
ALSO, several people have told me that Jim is starting work on regulators, so the Good Lord and Jim Wenham willing , you would be able to add those in the future.
FWIW, Jim is from England but lives in Ireland. He comes over every spring for the St. Louis Tionol so if you’re in the States that’s a good chance to get any annual fettling done.
Very happy to see this set sold! Jim is a very good pipemaker! This set played and sounded excellent, and I’m certain the new owner will be quite pleased!
