I remember watching this comet back then and it was glorious.
I don’t see the space ship behind it.

(btw - someone I went to high school with was in the group that committed suicide, so this is kinda a “laughing at your grave” post).

Caroluna - the reason I said purple Nikes is because all the Heaven’s Gate members had them on when they committed suicide.
Again - graveyard humor. Thankfully, Yvonne’s family (including her five children, one of which was less than a year old at the time) “left” the compound a few months before the suicide was carried out. Her husband was in the process of filing for a divorce because of her beliefs.
But when I heard she had done this, it was one of those “that would be the LAST person I would have predicted doing something like that”.
I count seeing Hale-Bopp back in '97 as one of the high points of my life.
